A few things I do differently in fashion sourcing.
Share
After working in product development and sourcing for suppliers and brands like Calvin Klein, Daily Paper, and Difuzed, I’ve realised something:
Some of the most impactful things in fashion are often the least glamorous.
Here are a few “unpopular” things I still believe in:
• I still ask where the dye came from, not just the fabric.
• I care about who dyed the fabric, not only how fast the supplier can deliver.
• I like working with materials that age naturally, even if they are not perfectly uniform.
• I believe natural dyes and plant-based textiles deserve more attention in modern fashion.
• I prefer building real relationships with suppliers instead of chasing the lowest price.
Sometimes the future of fashion innovation isn’t about inventing something new.
It’s about respecting the knowledge that already exists — in farms, in craft communities, and in textile traditions.
Through Moh Mode, I’m exploring ways to connect European brands with responsible suppliers and sustainable materials from India.
Fashion can be innovative and grounded in nature at the same time.
Curious to hear:
What are your “unpopular opinions” about the fashion industry?
